About Jai Tiger Resort

The name Jai Tiger Resort draws its inspiration from 'Jai' named Tiger who is billed as one of the largest Tiger in Central Part of India. At a time when poaching has hogged all the limelight, there was report of a young male tiger from Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary nicknamed 'Jai' who travelled around 120-130 km to reach Paoni range of Umred Karhandla Wildlife Sanctuary. Over the period of time he made the area its home and thus making himself the undisputed ruler of over 190 sq km territory of Umred Karhandla Wildlife Sanctuary.

Going back over the period of time Jai and Viru, the two male tigers were born in 2010 to a tigress Mai, responsible for maintaining tiger population in Nagzira and had reproduced about five generations till now. Three-and-half-year-old Jai migrated in search of a female to Umred Karhandla Sanctuary and has mated with three different females producing more than dozen of Sub-adults and cubs in different ranges in the sanctuary. Jai became very famous for giving poses to visitors and photographers during the safaris. The handsome hunk "Jay" is currently one of the most royal tigers in central India today and is a jewel in the crown of Umred Karhandla Wildlife Sanctuary.

Umred Karhandla actually is a small forest area, which serves an important corridor for wildlife in Tadoba, Nagzira, Pench and Umred itself. Today Umred is in budding condition on tourism map of India, but with the kind of potential it posses in terms of biodiversity and tiger sightings, it will soon be a prime attraction among wildlife lovers and wildlife photographers.
